Elicia's Adventures

March 14, 2011
Dear The Family!!!
Do you have skpye cuz i want to skpye you tomorrow

happenings in Honduras......So Iv decided to change my name....Apperently its just to hard to say and remember. when people try to say my whole name it comes out some thing like this lica ooly. O and the fact that i dont have a middle name, people here are like wait none, no, none??? And i have to say ya thats right its just ELICIA DOOLEY, then they repeat it "'o just lica ooly''...Ya sure close enough. So thats been fun also Im thinking that im going to have to change my major becuase no one here understands how, me taking youth in the wilderness can possible be a job. Its funny to see there faces as i try to describe what i do.
Ok so the reason i havent writen in a bit is because the people here are awesome they want us to be apart of everything and they want to show us every thing and they want to feed us EVERYTHING!!! First off on monday we went shopping with our friend karen and then she took us up to were all the way nice houses are that the drug lords live in, there the coolest houses ever this one looked like a castle it was sweet. Afterward we went to her house and had a BBQ with her family and the sister missionaries. Who by the way are the best ever, one of the sisters is from Utah and its so nice to be able to talk to her in rapid english and not have to repeat any thing. we are hoping that they can take a trip with us to some ruines that are a couple of hours away form our city.
On tuesday it was back to the beach but this time it was karen her brother and his two friends and kathryn and me. Its always more fun when there are more people. We stopped be the side of the road and got some cocconut water which i think is supper gross but the people here love it they think it is sweet, i think they are crazy!

But tell you what Holy cow I LOVE the ocean, we got there and kathryn and i took off strait for the docks and jumped right in only puasing for a second to slip our shoes off. which probably wasnt the best idea because there are quiet a bit of jelly fish that hang around there. so you are suppose to look before you jump...but o well we were just so happy to be there! after we jumped and swam for awhile we decided to go on a Bananna ride! you can pay people to take you out on this big bananna tube thing behind there boat. IT IS THE BOMB!! my arms are still sore from the death grip i had on the hand holds. the guys that we were with kept trying to tip us so when they would all lean one way all us girls would lean the other so we wouldnt tip.....unfortunately the guys were faster then us and would switch sides so that we were all leaning the same way and wham!! we would hit that water like a bunch of rag dolls. I came away with a fat lip and a big headache from peopole landing on me and tons of bruses.....SO worth it!!!
So the BIg thing this week for all the young single adults was a formal dance at the institute building on friday. And everyone insisted that we go and that they would help us get all the stuff we needed! We said yes of course we would go, kathryn was way excited becuase she knows how to latin dance and she said that it would be against all that is right in the world if she came clear to Honduras and didnt get to go latin dancing. I on the other had was slightly less excited about it me a 5'9 white clumsy girl trying to latin dance in a country were everyone is at least a head shorter then me........But kathryn is right i cant be in honduras and not at least give it a try. And hey who cares if i fall all over myself... its all part of the adventure! so all our spare time was spent going all over the city looking for dresses and shoes for the formal, kathryn and i were not to excited about buying any thing expencive so this lady from the our chruch took us to all these sweet second had stores (which for someone like me who hates shopping i rather enjoyed it), we found some cool stuff but in the end i got lucky cuz our friend karen had an aunt that was just my size so i was able to borrow a dress from her!!!(i'll post the pics of us all dresses up). So Friday came and o my goodness I LOVe latin dancing its all about moving the hips and shaking everything else. And tell you what these Hondurans know how to shake it!! Kathryn and i had fun trying but i dont think we really succeeded.  O so being the only american girls at a dance is kinda like being a movie star....every one is always looking at you even if they are dancing with someone else, they are still staring not just looking but staring at you....thus i have come to the conclusion to never become a movie star! So other then all the staring I really enjoyed it.

loves

Missionary Adventures of Elder Dooley

Remember about 6 weeks ago, Darin was running to catch the
bus and a Korean boy was running near them? Darin asked
him if he wanted to heartheir message and he said no, that
he didn't have time. Darin asked him why he didn't have time.
He said, "Because I am getting ready to go to America to go
to the University". Darin asked him what University. He
said, Brigham Young. Darin asked him if he ever heard of
Mormons or knows who Brigham Young is. He said no.
Stay tuned for the rest of the story below.

HOLA COMO ESTAS!??

Man what a Super cool week!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't even know what
happened but it was awesome! The lords throwing some miracles our way!
so transfer calls came! I'm still in shi hung which sucks! haha i love
some of the people but this area is dry! Its my Korean mothers fault
hahah she called and was like! Oh Elder Dooley I pray very hard that
you stay!!" hahah I'm thinking noooooo don't do that! haha Grace is
sooooo funny Sunday. We had a ward dinner and Elder Chapman and i got
stuck with the dishes. Mountains of dishes we didn't even know where to
start. Grace came up behind us and said " Elders put on happy face
please'' and then took a picture of us hahaha! I love that women she
is the best!

K sooo the miracles!
Thursday of last week we were knocking doors and we finished a whole
column of apartments. It was 5:30 and we were both super tired! And it
was time for dinner so we walked out of a 20 story apartment building
and started to head for home... we walked about 15 feet and I stopped.
I looked back at the apartment building we came out of and thought u
know what... we should do one more shaft of that apartment building. I
told My Comp hey lets go back and do some more! He looked at me like I
was nuts but I got him to come! We did 6 floors (12 doors) with no
success. we got to the 14th floor and knocked on a door, in Korean
they asked who is it!? I said hello its the missionaries! The Door
flew wide open!! (which never happens) an older lady was standing
there she looked at me then looked at my comp then freaked out!!!! she
was soooooo happy to see us!!! I was thinking ohhh crap she has got to
be drunk!! hahaha she invited us in and we started talking it
clicked! I taught her in my English class like 2 months ago! She only
came once so I didn't remember her! She asked us how we found her
apartment and we told her we were just knocking doors! haha she
freaked out again and told us that God must have sent us! I was
thinking yes He did! Time to get baptized gramma! Anyway, she talked
to us about the B.O.M for a while and we set up a return appointment!
It was wicked sweet!! also she received a package from her daughter in
America! It was full of America candy! She said it was too sweet for
her and she gave it all to us!! ha what a great day!

Sooo get this, Friday we visited a member and after we came out of the
member's house it was like 8:15 We stood there for a couple of seconds
trying to decide if we should go to the bishops house or just head
home! we decided to go visit the bishop. First let me give you some
back ground. I have served in my area for 3 months now, I know almost
every street and I haven't gotten lost in 2 months.) So we take off
to the bishops house, Bishop lives maybe 15 minutes away from this
member's house. We started walking and talking and about 15 minutes
later, I realized, hey we're lost! we were in some random part of town
and i had lost my barrings. My comp and i were standing in the middle
of the road looking around trying to figure out where we were at. we
started to walk down a road and i thought nooo this isn't right so we
walked back to the same intersection. We were both standing in the
middle of the road doing circles trying figure out where we should go.
Standing on the corner kinda behind a light pole was a boy about 17.
I thought hey were lost i will contact this kid while we figure things
out. I walked up to him and said hello. His eyes got really big! he
said hello back to me like he knew me and then i realized who he
was!!! It was that kid i contacted last transfer who had never heard
of our church but wanted to go to byu! He just happened to be waiting
for his girl friend on that street corner. we talked for a bit and
made plans to meet up on the next Monday!! we met him yesterday and
helped him fill out his application to byu! The kid is awesome!! I
really hope he gets baptized!!! we are going to meet with him again
and talk about who Brigham Young is! Oh and also this city has a
half million people in it u don't just run in to people u know on the
streets.

Oh wow also the kid that we teach English and the gospel we met up
with him Sunday and committed him to pray about our church and the
B.O.M and when God answers his prayer, if he would get baptized!
HE SAID YES!!!!!!!!!!! Man i sure hope he prays!!!

I don't know what is going on! the Lord is blessing us soo much and i
don't even fill like we deserve it!
Its amazing!! This is truly the Lord's work!

I love you all
