Daren arrives in Korea

Dear Parents and/or Guardians of Missionaries Serving in the Korea Seoul Mission,

              We wanted to send you an email to inform you that all of your missionaries arrived safely and in one piece!  They are happy to be here, and after having met and  talked with them we are convinced that they are all great!  We thank you for your support and are sure your missionaries will tell you all about the flight and their first experiences in Korea through Email on their next P-day, or when they call home on Christmas (Monday is Pday. however this week Missionaries will email on Saturday)   I have attached a picture of the missionaries as they arrived at the airport to this Email.  We thank you again for your dedication to support the missionaries as they serve God's children here in Korea!

 We are so proud of Justin...He's advancing in Scouting....Just passed off his Tenderfoot requirement and also his 2nd Class....so his rank is now 2nd Class!  They haven't had the court of honor yet...just the Board of Review.  Since Dennis is the Scoutmaster, Justin will be in his group in April.  That will be fun for them.  I'm serving in the YW and  so all of us are involved in the Youth Program.... we'll all be trekking to the activities during the week.  Why not?!

Randy Finally Becomes a Grandpa!

This is Alanna writting. My mother(Joyce) has been reminding me that I need to post on this blog for her(because she does not know how:-)) and everytime I see grandma she reminds me that I need to post on the blog. So finally I'm doing it! Now I have a really good reason too. Baby Rodriquez (Keshia and Juan's baby) was born last Sat  5lb 5oz. Enjoy the pictures grandma! We will post more later but these are the only pictures that I have since I'm in Utah.   

I've been wanting to post these pics for grandma for awhile. Earlier this year Jared turned 12 so our whole family went to the Oqurrih Mountian Temple together to do baptisms.  

Everyone enjoy conference this weekend!!!

The Morman Tabernacle Choir wanted me to try out. Ha Ha not really. For Young Womens two weeks ago we went to the conference center and got to sing hymns in the chior seat. It was so cool! It's not that great of a picture of me but it's the only one I got. ;-)

Campbell Family Reunion by Shauna

KayLynn enjoyed doing her grand-daughter, BrookeLynn's hair.  She did it almost everyday of BrookeLynn's visit.  KayLynn (my mom) told me that she wanted to be a hair dresser when she was younger.

KayLynn soaked in every moment possible with Ethan, her newest grand baby.  Ethan is only about 6 weeks old in this picture.  He would compare to the size of most 12 week olds.

From Robert and KayLynn....

Ethan Craig was born on the 22nd of June to Craig and Julia and big brother Josh.  9lb 3.9oz  22 inches long.  Without any epidural or pain meds, too.  Josh now seems so big even though he's two.  They live in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  Robert and I has a fun road trip to see them.  We got to see beautiful country all along the way.  We went through Yellowstone.  It was really neat to see Craig and Julia and their little family.

We are busy....I am busy as YW president....We have YW camp coming up.  We just had our Youth conference...and a wedding coming up.

Jillayne's wedding plans have changed.  They are getting married in the Provo Temple.  August 19...
Temple marriage at 9:30....luncheon to follow and a reception that evening in Provo.  Invitations will be sent out soon.

Dee is an engineer at Rathon and recently received a raise and promotion and is serving as an Elders Quorum President.

Chris has a new position at his work that he's enjoying and working on his masters.....just one more year.  They are in St. Louis where its hot and muggy right now.

Even though I am busy busy...I don't have as much laundry!  That's the advantage of being an empty nester and a husband that isn't a farmer.

Robert has lots of projects going on work.  He's had like 5 publications of his research projects so far.  There's a lot of missionary work to do, too.  He's the Ward Mission Leader and a big support to me. 

We're excited to have a new grandson!

Here's a picture of our new car.  It's a 2002 Lincoln with lots of buttons and gadgets we get to learn.  We love how the seats adjust and recline all the way.  There's even a sun/moon roof!  Very nice!

BYU Graduation

It is official! I just handed my last assignment in at 12:02am to BYU. I am graduating on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 2pm at the Marriot Center! Wahoo!!!!

More Information About Julia Shepherd Tanner

JoLene did great on identifying the graves. The pictures turned out beautiful! In fact some of them I put into my picture folder on my computer. Hurray for technology.

Just more info about Julia. She was the second wife of ancestor, Sidney Tanner. 1846 was an year of mixed feelings for Sidney Tanner. His toddler son, James Monroe Tanner, died in March on the journey to Winter Quarters. Mason was born in July. Wife, and mother, Louisa Conlee Tanner, died in September at Winter Quarters. Mason, the young baby born in July, died in October. Then Sidney married Julia Shepherd in December of the same year in Winter Quarters.

Julia was only seventeen years of age when she married Sidney. She immediately had six children to care for. It was probably a challenge especially since the oldest one Allen B. (our ancestor) was only two years younger (15)than his stepmother. And maybe another challenge with the second child who was three years younger (13). The rest of their siblings were likely more accepting of Julia as their mother. They were age 12, age 10, age 7, and age 5. Six months after Julia and Sidney were married, the youngest child, who was now six, died in 1848. Within sixteen months, ancestor, Sidney Tanner, had lost his first wife and three children.

Regarding Alicia Tanner, she was sister to Grandma Clark. She was born in March 1905 and died three days later. Then her mother Alice Tyler Tanner (Grandma Clark's mother too) died three months later in June 1905.

This is cemented in front of Ruth's grave.  This is nice recognition...after all.... wives go through a lot, too!

 Babies...I believe they are Alice and  Joseph's babies??....(Grandma Clark's sisters?)  The dates seem to be about right.  This is engraved on the flip side of the tall Family marker.  Alice's info is on the other side.

 Yes, if you're familiar with the movie...this caught the kids' attention, but it is right next to the Alice Tanner Family Marker...I believe this belongs to Emily.  There was another marker the same size and style just like it to the side, but it was broken.  It could belong to Alicia.

 We found another relative in another section of the Beaver Cemetery.  Sydney's grandson married Daniel Tyler's daughter, Alice, in Beaver, Utah.  That's how it all pieces together.  

Sydney Tanner also came across the plains. 

We noticed throughout the cemetery of little "Faith in Every Footstep" plaques on 

certain grave markers like this.  This picture is taken of the one on Sidney Tanners.

This inscription is hard to read, but it says 

"Sacred to the Memory of Julia Ann, 

beloved wife of Sidney Tanner, dau of Samuel Roxie Lana Shepherd. 

Born: Willaby, Ohio March 24, 1829

Died:  May 10, 1899"

(on the pedigree chart, it lists Louisa Conlee as his wife)

 This is us...our adventure to Beaver, Utah on Memorial Day.  We hope you like the pictures we took, mom and dad...we had fun doing this for you and for us.  We breezed through some of the histories on our drive to and from and learned about our ancestors.  We have a great family that had many neat experiences, especially in the early days of the Church.  They had strong testimonies, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to endure what they did.
