Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2010 ~ Beaver, Utah
The grave site of Daniel Tyler and his wife, Ruth Welton and their daughter Alice May.
Alice is dad's (Joe Polatis') grandmother.
Daniel Tyler's grave.
Daniel Tyler's other marker....His Mormon Battalion Marker.
His wife's grave.
This is cemented in front of Ruth's grave. This is nice recognition...after all.... wives go through a lot, too!
Behind Daniel and Ruth Tyler's graves is the Tanner family
Grave Marker for Alice May Tyler Tanner, dad's (Joe Polatis) grandmother
Her husband, Joseph William Tanner, is buried in Blackfoot, Idaho?
Babies...I believe they are Alice and Joseph's babies??....(Grandma Clark's sisters?) The dates seem to be about right. This is engraved on the flip side of the tall Family marker. Alice's info is on the other side.
The previous picture shows it.
The previous picture shows it.
Yes, if you're familiar with the movie...this caught the kids' attention, but it is right next to the Alice Tanner Family Marker...I believe this belongs to Emily. There was another marker the same size and style just like it to the side, but it was broken. It could belong to Alicia.
We found another relative in another section of the Beaver Cemetery. Sydney's grandson married Daniel Tyler's daughter, Alice, in Beaver, Utah. That's how it all pieces together.
Sydney Tanner also came across the plains.
We noticed throughout the cemetery of little "Faith in Every Footstep" plaques on
certain grave markers like this. This picture is taken of the one on Sidney Tanners.
This inscription is hard to read, but it says
"Sacred to the Memory of Julia Ann,
beloved wife of Sidney Tanner, dau of Samuel Roxie Lana Shepherd.
Born: Willaby, Ohio March 24, 1829
Died: May 10, 1899"
(on the pedigree chart, it lists Louisa Conlee as his wife)
The Sidney Tanner family Marker
This is us...our adventure to Beaver, Utah on Memorial Day. We hope you like the pictures we took, mom and dad...we had fun doing this for you and for us. We breezed through some of the histories on our drive to and from and learned about our ancestors. We have a great family that had many neat experiences, especially in the early days of the Church. They had strong testimonies, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to endure what they did.
